Help
The same guide as in the app. Pick a topic.
Which way to send
- Codes on the screen: works with no network at all, between any two devices with a screen and a camera. Best for text, links, keys and photos.
- Wi-Fi: much faster for big files and folders, when both devices are on the same network. It stays on your local network and is encrypted with the 4-digit PIN.
- Paper: one printed page that any AirGapped app can read later. Best for small things you want to keep offline, like recovery codes, a key or a short note.
Our advice: use codes when you can't or don't want to use a network, Wi-Fi for anything over a few megabytes, and paper for small things you want to keep.
Speeds
- Reliable: one large code. Start here, and use it with older phones, dim rooms or long distances.
- Balanced: two codes at once. A good default once the first transfer worked.
- Turbo: more codes, faster. Needs a steady hand and a bright, sharp screen.
- Max (Pro): the whole screen becomes code. Fastest, but hold the phone 20 to 30 cm away and keep it still.
If the receiver stops making progress for more than a few seconds, go one speed down.
Getting a good read
- Turn the sending screen's brightness up and switch off night light or blue light filters.
- Fill most of the camera view with the codes, then hold still. It can take a second to lock on.
- Avoid reflections: tilt the screen a little if you see a bright spot on it.
- Missed codes don't matter. The codes keep changing and any of them fill the gaps, so just keep pointing until it finishes.
- On a laptop, keep the window large; codes fit the window.
- Check that the fingerprint on both screens matches before you trust what you received.
Password protection
Anyone who can see the codes, film them or copy the paper could read what you send. A password stops that.
- Turn on "Protect with a password" before you show codes or print.
- Everything is encrypted on your device first, including the file names. Without the password, the codes are useless.
- The receiver types the same password to open it. Opening protected items is free in every app.
- Use at least 6 characters; a short phrase of 3 or 4 words is better.
- Tell the password another way: say it, or send it by another app. Never print it on the same page or show it next to the codes.
- There is no way to recover a forgotten password, not even for us.
Printing on paper
Print turns what you send into one page of codes (up to about 9 KB after compression). Text, passwords, keys and small files fit; photos usually don't.
- Print at 100% (actual size), not "fit to page", and use normal or best quality.
- Use plain white paper. Keep it flat, dry and out of strong sunlight.
- To read it, open Receive and hold the phone 10 to 20 cm from the page. Move slowly over the codes in any order.
- A few codes can be damaged or missing and it still reads. The page shows how many.
- For anything private, turn on password protection before printing, and keep the password somewhere else.
- Test it: read the page back once right after printing.
Photos and big files
Codes move a few to a few dozen kilobytes per second, so a 5 MB photo can take minutes.
- For large photos, AirGapped offers to make them smaller first. Medium size and quality usually look the same on a phone and send 5 to 10 times faster.
- Making a photo smaller also removes its location and camera details.
- Tick "Remember" to skip the question next time, or change it any time in Settings, Photos.
- For full-quality originals, videos or folders, use Wi-Fi.
Recent items
- Recent keeps a copy of what you sent and received on this device only, so you can open, share or send it again.
- Tap an item to preview it. Use Send again to send it to another device.
- Remove items you no longer need, or clear the whole list in Settings.
Privacy
- Codes and paper never touch a network. Wi-Fi transfers stay on your local network and never go through the internet.
- Nothing you send is uploaded to us. We never see your files, text or passwords.
- Anonymous usage counts are off unless you turn them on in Settings. They never include names, contents or fingerprints.
AirGapped Pro and your license
Pro adds Max speed, password protection and printing on paper. Receiving, opening protected items and reading paper are always free.
- Buy once at panaweb.top/airgapped/pro: $9.99 for one device or $34.99 for five. You get a short license key. Vouchers work the same way.
- In Settings, AirGapped Pro, type the key or tap Scan and point the camera at its QR code, then tap Activate. Each device activates once and needs internet only for that moment.
- No internet on this device? It shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone, then scan the activation code your phone shows, or type it.
- An activation code only works on the device it was made for, so keep your key private.
- New phone? Free a seat at panaweb.top/airgapped/devices.php with your key and email, then activate the new one.
Troubleshooting
- Camera doesn't start: allow camera access for AirGapped in your system settings.
- Stuck at 0%: move closer or further until the codes fill most of the view, raise the screen brightness, try Reliable speed.
- Progress stops near the end: keep pointing; the codes keep changing until the receiver has enough.
- Wi-Fi can't connect: both devices must be on the same network, and guest or office networks often block devices from seeing each other. Use codes instead.
- Wrong password: passwords are case sensitive. Check for a different keyboard layout.
- Still stuck? Write to info@panaweb.top or use Support on panaweb.top/airgapped.
Your devices and lost keys
Enter the license key from your receipt email (it starts with AGP-) and the email you paid with to see your devices or move the license to a new one. Device without internet? Activate it here.
